Seventeen performers to appear in 'Center Stage II'

Organizers of the second annual Center Talent Show have announced the talent that will compete in Center Stage II, this year's show, and named the second "surprise" emcee. The show is on Saturday, November 21.

Performing in the show will be: Clay Angus, Edward Bricker, Lisa Bertok, Karen Butler, Marie Casella, the Coastliners, Donna G, Diane Hobus, Denny Lambea, Sue Marie, Timothy J. Moore, Vince Morvatz, Penny Rachelle, Sparkle, the Kris Stevens Trio, Joe Svihlik, and Trilogy.

Each act will perform a single piece in competition for cash prizes, including $300 each for first place female act and first place male act, and $150 each for runner-up female act and runner-up male act.

"The auditions this year generated tremendous response," said Center special events chair Nick Palumbo. He went on to explain that the Center is thrilled so many people auditioned this year. "We hope this means that our Talent Show is really catching on in the community."

Judges for this year's show include Donna Drozda, Karen Williams, David Oakland,

women's festivals. She has amazing wit and charm and will serve as a wonderful emcee with local emcee partner Aubrey Wertheim, the Center's program director. Gomez will do her own comedy during the Talent Show while the judges are tallying the results. She will also perform at Center Spread, an intimate dinner immediately preceding Center Stage.

Center Spread was added to the event to further benefit the Lesbian-Gay Community Service Center.

Center Spread tickets are $50 and include a catered dinner buffet, a ticket to Center Stage II, reserved seating, and acknowledgement in the Center Stage II Program book.

Tickets for Center Stage II are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. For more information call the Center at 522-1999 or Brynna Fish, Bluefish Productions at 3719714.

Center Stage II is being produced by Bluefish Productions in cooperation with the Gay People's Chronicle.

Patti Harris, Kadero Brown (a.k.a. Another

YoFreakka), Zak Haley, John Nolan, Mitchell Smith and Jackie Cassara.

Talent this year includes a baton twirler, two pianists, two different trios and a variety of vocalists. According to Center Stage II producer Brynna Fish, this year's show promises to be better than ever--especially with the addition of the Center Stage Band. Negotiations are being completed for a three piece band to accompany many of the vocalists in the show. The band will also serve as added entertainment and provide sidekick interludes for the emcees.

Fish was pleased to announce that after months of negotiating and scheduling, comedian Marga Gomez was able to rearrange the Chicago run of her one-woman show to emcee the Talent Show.

Gomez has been pleasing audiences across the country in concerts and at

voting opportunity
